Winter vacation, part one. Hong Kong and Macao

hi!
This post will be in English. I'm trying to use this language as much as possible, while having FB, mail services and my cell phone settings in US English.

First part of our vacation was in Hong Kong and Macao, which are known as Special Administrative Regions of the People's Republic of China.
What is curious, official languages are not connected with Beijng - in HKG there are Cantonese (Chinese) and English. In Macao its Portugese instead of English. While traveling from Macao to HKG airport I noticed that people speaking Cantonese and these ones using Mandarin (another kind of Chinese, used for example in Beijing) can't understand each other.
But... What of it, if even in HKG people speaking English have strong, sometimes hard to understand, asian accent... Whoever was somewhere in Southeast Asia, knows what I mean - probably only in Singapore you'll never have problems with communication (few official languages, including English, Chinese, Hindu and Malay).

Anyway. We departed from Warsaw two days after Christmas Eve - first stop was Vienna, for ca. 1,5h, and then 9h flight with Austrian Airlines to Hong Kong :)

You'd ask, what we did in HKG if I was there for the second time... We had some more places to visit, like Victoria's Peak or Big Buddha statue on Lantau Island. And delicious food to try :D

We lived on 108th floor for the first three days. Not for everyone, but views worth seeing, even on pics. The highest hotel in the world (link)

 View from The Peak (link)

The Peninsula Hotel, known from James Bond movie (Man with the Golden Gun) and its green Rolls-Royce's cars

Floor of the Crystal Cabin at Ngong Ping 360 (link)

Tian Tan Buddha. Views worth climbing ca. 250 stairs!

Chek Lap Kok (Hong Kong International Airport) seen from NP360 cable car

And... time for some food, which Hong Kong can be proud of!

 Delicious mango smoothies

 Coala-cookies 🐨
Coffee with the view 😍

What can I say about Macao?
We got there from Kowloon by Cotai Water Jet (link) which is the quickest way to get to Macau or Taipa.

This SAR is commonly known as asian Las Vegas. Why? Because of many gambling services in Cotai and Grand Casino Lisboa :D
Macau also has beautiful Old Town. For Europeans it looks familiar - it's very similar to Lisbon, even the pavements are looking like in Portugal

Front wall of St. Paul's Cathedral

Typical pork bun (also known as "schabowy w bułce" 😅)

We stayed in China for 4 days, to 31st December, and then gone  to Hawaii, which I will describe in next post 😊
